Location: Espacio (105 Congress Street, Salem MA)

Teaser: We humans need stories to make sense of the ourselves and the cosmos. Stories about monsters help us investigate our fears as humans (individually and as a collective), the kind of fears that oftentimes we’re afraid to utter out loud in a direct manner: What happens if I cease to be me? Am I capable of great violence and exploitation in my worse moments? Do I dare trust others around me not to harm me? What would become of me if I suddenly had a lot of power? Monsters are a mainstay in our stories because we know we can’t keep the monsters at arm’s length – theologically or even literally. Monsters, specifically vampires and zombies, help us think through important theological questions about what it means to be human.
